After a flat start, the University of Hawaii at Hilo turned up the heat yet came up short against Northern New Mexico College 76-75 in the final day of the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort Thanksgiving Tournament.

"We can make excuses three games in three nights and not having legs but we didn't rebound well," UH Hilo Head Coach GE Coleman said. "We were allowing them to get to the hoop, get offensive rebounds.

"We weren't getting 50-50 balls and those are things you have to come up with."

The Vulcans were out-rebounded 46-35 yet both teams hit the boards for 15 offensive rebounds each.

Darnell Williams led the Vulcans with 21 points while Joey Rodriguez had 15.
